As a Barclays Developer, you will work on implementation of logic used to detect Financial Crime activities across large-scale data sets. The tasks will involve sourcing the data, preparing the data for ingestion, processing the data into networks, implementing scoring models to produce alerts and working on external integrations. Majority of the development will utilize the Scala programming language across Spark (on Hadoop) and deployed on Cloudera platform.

What you’ll be doing?
• Implementing new functionality that will be used to detect all kinds of financial crime activities
  • Providing accurate estimates to develop well-engineered code that meets acceptance criteria
  • Working closely with other team members in a globally-distributed team and providing support for the live applications
  • Conducting code reviews, provide constructive feedback, take ownership for code quality
  • Being responsible for automate and execute releases to both Production and non-production environments
  • Contributing to the development of Barclays Compliance DevOps best-practices
  • Participating in Agile ceremonies, delivering on goals agreed for each sprint
  • Contributing to the evolution of the end-to-end architecture of the platform
What we’re looking for:
• A Software engineering mind-set and desire to provide robust scalable and data oriented solutions. A good working knowledge on Spark, HDFS, HIVE and Impala
  • Good understanding on NoSQL databases like Hive, Impala, Hbase etc. and experience in designing and engineering solutions in Scala, Java or Python
  • Good experience in Using Apache Spark (Cloudera/Databricks/Hortonworks)
  • Past experience of developing and deploying production Level Big data solutions and experience working with modern CI/CD pipelines like Git, Jenkins etc.
Skills that will help you in the role:
• Experience deploying applications to run on Apache Hadoop
  • Previous experience deploying applications on Docker containers
  • Experience delivering solutions in an Agile environment
  • Experience in working on Cloud Infrastructure at an enterprise level and exposure to Data Analytics and Machine Learning would be an added advantage
